Museum representatives did not arrive in time to save Milford diner By Denise Marie Mize Friday, April 26, 2002 MILFORD - Ted's Diner was reduced to rubble in quick order early yesterday morning when a Hood Construction Company crew began to dismantle it. The historic diner, which dated to the 1920s, was hauled away in a Dumpster at no charge to the town by Hood. "They just touched it and the thing just collapsed in a pile," said Parks Director Michael Bresciani. The demolition of the structure came as representatives of a Rhode Island diner museum were on their way to Milford to possibly lay claim to the structure for preservation. American Diner Museum president Daniel Zilka was on his way to Milford yesterday morning to view the diner when he learned it had been demolished. . . .

Regulars lament Ted's demise By Denise Marie Mize Thursday, April 25, 2002 MILFORD - The vandalized relic of what once was the bustling Ted's Diner on Main Street in downtown Milford has saddened area residents. Selectmen have declared the town-owned diner a safety hazard and ordered it removed from Rosenfeld Park where it has been stored since last June. It was moved from its landmark Main Street location to make room for the new $3.7 million Spruce Street Fire Station. The diner with a red exterior dates back to the 1920s and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. . .

Can Ted's Diner be saved? Vandals have made it a safety hazard so historic eatery may be headed to the dump By Denise Marie Mize Wednesday, April 24, 2002 MILFORD - Milford has a tradition of maintaining its municipal buildings but one of its landmarks has fallen into such disrepair it is considered a threat to public safety. The historic town-owned Ted's Diner was moved to Rosenfeld Park on Rte. 85 last June until a new home was sought for it. Vandals have smashed the diner's windows, torn out wires and pushed over tables and other equipment inside. The Board of Selectmen this week ordered the diner removed by the end of this week before the Milford Youth Baseball season opens Sunday.

Ted's Diner finds a new owner By Denise Marie Mize Tuesday, January 22, 2002 MILFORD - Ted's Diner won't be serving up hot dogs, hamburgers and Cokes at one of the town's parks as officials had hoped. Instead, plagued by environmental concerns over putting the historic cherry-red diner on a capped landfill and rampant vandalism of the 1930s diner at Rosenfeld Park, officials have abandoned the plan . . . .
